Groups & Classes

At Manor House we are fortunate enough to have spaces for a number of groups and classes to operate from. If you are interested in joining any of these please see the links provided for further details on what is currently available.

As well as the list below, our three community rooms are also regularly used for meetings, seminars, talks, therapy, counselling, classrooms, study rooms and more. Our hirers include several local authorities, charities, the NHS, National Childbirth Trust, Mind groups, Trinity Laban, Midwives and more.  If you wish to run an event or class please contact  simon@fhlibrary.co.uk 

French For All Seasons

French lessons for adult beginners – 10 week course

When: Monday 18th September – Monday 4th December (excluding 23rd & 30th October)

Price: £22 per lesson if paid individually.

Offers: £200 for ten lessons paid in two instalments.

‘Bring a friend’ £180 each paid in two instalments.

Mission Mindfulness

The Mission: Mindfulness MT course is a 6 week introductory course to mindfulness.  During the sessions participants learn practical tips and strategies to help them bring mindfulness principles to their daily life.  There is time spent in group discussion as well as doing guided breathing practices.  Mindfulness can help people to:

  • manage day-to-day stress more effectively
  • fully focus on the present moment
  • become more emotionally aware and self-aware
  • be more self-compassionate
  • have greater empathy and patience with others

When: The course runs in 6 weekly blocks on Wednesday evenings, 7.30pm – 8.30pm.

Price:  The price of the course is £85.

Yoga with Anna

Yoga with Anna aims to make yoga accessible, un-intimidating and above all enjoyable. Anna encourages her students to use yoga to build strength and flexibility, to relieve stress and invite balance to their lives. A practice for both the mind and body.

No two yoga classes are the same and Anna likes to link themes to her classes as a way to give you something to think about when you step off the mat. Music is a feature and the use of aromatherapy oils through a diffuser. Modifications are offered throughout the practice making it accessible to everyone including beginners.
Every class includes pranayama (breathing techniques), meditation and relaxation practices.
When: (School term time only)
Wednesdays 9.30-10.30am – Gentle Flow Yoga
Thursdays 9.30-10.30am – Flow Yoga
Thursdays 7-8pm – Flow Yoga
Thursdays 8.15-9.15pm – Flow Yoga
£50 for a block of 6 consecutive classes

Hatha Yoga Classes

Suitable for all levels , including beginners.
Sessions include posture and breath awareness ,relaxation and meditation .
When: Monday mornings from 9.30 – 11.00
Tuesday evenings 6-7.30
 A 6-7 week courses to coincide with school half terms .
Prices : 6 weeks for £50 or £10 to drop in.
Concessions -£5 per class .
Introductory offer of 2 classes for £10 , either come twice or bring a friend .

Inkhead Creative Writing

Inkhead have been running creative writing workshops and clubs in schools and libraries for the past decade. They use a workshop approach to show and encourage children age 7 to 14 to write the stories they want to write.

Their tutors are all writers who have studied creative writing and are writing now. They understand the process of trying to express what is in your imagination through the written word. Experienced tutors, workshop leaders and teachers, they enjoy the creative interaction with the children who come on our courses.

When: After school club on Monday 4pm to 5pm at Manor House library. Open to anyone between the age of 8 and 11.

Price: £15 per session – we invoice at the beginning of term for a half term. We also offer free taster sessions to anyone who hasn’t been before and on the first club in September.

Pilates With Merixell

Pilates is an invigorated form of exercise for your mind and body that will enable you to look and feel your very best. As a result, your posture will change, you will achieve a strong core, develop longer, leaner muscles and improve your overall sense of well-being.
