Manor House Re-opens

Manor House Library will open its doors once more on May 2nd at 9am, and it will be back to providing the local community with a seven day service for the first time in over six months. Working closely with Lewisham Council and its team of professional librarians, Manor House will be run by V22 and volunteers from the local community.

In the coming weeks, supported daily by staff from Lewisham Library, volunteers will be getting to grips with how the library systems operate and the ins and outs of every day operation. Running a library is not easy, and we’re not going to pretend that we’re going to be able to provide the service delivered by trained library staff, so if you can bear with us in the opening few weeks we’d appreciate it!

V22 already run Forest Hill Library and have learned a great deal from that experience that they can bring to Manor House, not least of all that trying to install new computers while the library is up and running is a bad idea – so for the past week they have been replacing the old windows XP computers and replacing them with newer, faster units running the latest software on Windows 10.

During the closed period we put together training sessions for volunteers and invited community groups and other Manor House users to engage with the new team. We have already had conversations with many of the user groups, and if you have any questions, or want to join our team of volunteers then please email info@mhlibrary.co.uk.
